As a skincare enthusiast, I get asked a lot about what’s the best face wash to use. You asked and I’m answering your most asked skincare questions.
How Many Times Should I Wash My Face In A Day
You should thoroughly clean your skin at least once a day. My recommendation is to wash it at night because you’ll be removing the build-up from the day including dirt, pollution, and makeup.
I don’t necessarily think you need to wash your face in the morning unless you wake up with really greasy skin. Instead, use water or cleansing water if you feel you need it.
This way your skin barrier will be disrupted less.
Even though we aren’t washing our face with soap or a cleanser in the morning, you will still want to follow up with hydration products if dryness is an issue for you.
How To Wash Your Face To Get Rid Of Acne
With acne, you want to use a gel foaming cleanser. Look for one with salicylic acid. If you need something additional to try is a once-a-week sulfur mask.
The sulfur fights the bacteria that is causing your acne. It will unclog your pores, redness, and inflammation. Sulfur masks are efficient at mildly treating your skin.
If your problem is hormonal acne that you only get flare-ups, then wash your face gently with the 2-step method and use face acids to help combat the hormonal acne.
Since this type of acne is cystic, you generally feel it before you see it. When you start to feel it, spot treat those areas with glycolic acid. This will penetrate and eliminate the acne before it erupts to the surface.

How To Wash Your Face Correctly
In last week’s article, we talked about the importance of your skin type when you choose the product that is right for you.
Here are some tips, regardless of your skin type, that will help you cleanse your face correctly.
- Use cool or cold water to prevent your skin from dehydrating
- Wash your face at night unless you really need it other times in the day
- Layer your hydrating products without waiting to dry to seal in moisture
- Limit physical exfoliating products to 2 or 3 times a week to not irritate your skin
